Object Types

  • Glyph - Conforms to the shape of text contained within it
  • Vector - Shape primitives such as rectangles and ellipses (no need to import external files)
  • Image - Contains a placed image from a variety of file formats including TIFF, JPEG, PDF and EPS.
  • Alternate - Selects one from a number of subordinate objects based on a user-specified decision
  • Compound - A composite of all subordinate objects that can be treated as single object

Object Properties

  • Frame of Reference - Geometric properties and/or metrics used for positioning, sizing and rotation. Properties include vertical and horizontal position values as percentages and/or fixed offsets. Orientations include object-aligned or axis-aligned. Geometry includes inner margin, outer margin, object and source. Metrics include height, width and geometric areas.
  • Margins - White space surrounding and inside of an object. Separate settings for top, bottom, left and right on both inner and outer margins with simultaneous fixed and scalable values in object and axis-aligned orientations, resulting in 32 unique settings. Fidelity of margins is variable from a crude bounding box to the actual shape of individual glyphs. Resolution of margins is adjustable from coarse to fine.
  • Position - Position of an object relative to the frames of reference of up to four other objects. Settings may be percentages, fixed offsets or an accumulation of both. Additionally, objects may shove together until geometry meets a user-specified proximity.
  • Size - Size of an object. Setting may be a fixed value, relative to one or two other objects, or maximized to the largest possible size within user-specified constraints.
  • Rotation - Angular orientation of an object. Setting may be a fixed offset, relative to one or two other objects, or an accumulation of both.
  • Style - Visible attributes of an object, including fill and stroke.

Source Data Processing

  • Regular Expressions - Glyph objects support regular expression pattern matching and substitutions for extremely powerful text manipulation without requiring source data to be modified. Alternate objects support regular expression pattern matching for decisions based on data content.
  • Capitalization - Uppercase, lowercase, and word capitalization
  • Whitespace Trimming - Trims superfluous leading and trailing spaces
